Alyssa had to bring her favorite book to school for her teacher to read since she was "star of the week" last week. Without hesitation she chose her Tuesday Mushroom King book. I was at the back of the classroom for the reading, and I wish you were there to witness the scene with me. The entire class ADORED the book! They were so excited to see their friend in the book, and they loved the story itself. Lots of oohs, ahhs and laughter. Afterwards they all crowded around to get a better look at the pictures. Alyssa mentioned that her teacher put the book beside her desk and everyone was still checking it out that entire week. The teacher liked the book too since she said there were lots of "wow" words, which is what they were talking about in writers' workshop that week. So there you go. A definite hit with the first graders in room 6.
