Creating a personalized product

  1. How do you make your products?
    We take your child's photo, add a little pixie dust, and voilà! A new book, card, journal, wall art, or apparel is created. Please remember that our artists create these products based off the photo you submit. It's very important that you send us a photo of your child that accurately represents him or her. Our process is an art not a science.

    We only include the person's face and hair in the image. All other parts of the photograph are removed by our artists. An artist will spend time with each order making sure it looks magical. If we see a photo that does not work well, we will let you know and request a replacement. Watch video - See how it works

  2. My child's skin color is different from the model on your website. Will it still work for my child?
    Absolutely! Any child can enjoy our personalized products regardless of skin and hair color.

  3. Do you offer your books in any other languages?
    Yes. We offer our books in English, German, French, Spanish, Finnish, Dutch, Norwegian, Turkish, and Italian. Take your pick. We are adding new translations all the time. If there is a language you would like to see, drop us a line at support@flattenme.com

  4. Why can't I see a preview of my child online before I order?
    Every order requires an artist to make the magic happen. Because there is manual labor involved, we can't show you anything instantaneously.

  5. Do you offer a digital proof?
    No, we do not offer a digital proof of your order at this time. Every order has at least 2 people look at it before it ships to ensure a high quality product.

  6. Can I reuse the same photo again for new orders?
    Yep. That is why we keep your photo in our database. You can also easily order additional titles with the same photo. Just sign into My Account located at the top of every page. When you make your order, your previous photos will show up as a choice.

  7. What is your return policy?
    We want you to be happy! Let us know if you don't think your product is up to snuff. We would be thrilled to replace it for you or provide a refund. Contact us at support@flattenme.com and we'll take care of it.

    Shipping costs are not refundable. During the order checkout process, please triple check that all information is entered and spelled correctly. We are not responsible for any typographical errors resulting from incorrectly entered information.

Photo Help

  1. Which photos are the best to upload or send?
    A great personalized product starts with YOU! Your photo makes a huge difference. The best products come from high resolution photos. If you are getting your photo over e-mail from someone else and it is not the original photo file, it is best that the child's face be close to the camera in order to look crisp in the product.

    • Direct Shot: Make sure the entire face and hair are visible, looking directly into the camera. Nothing can be covering the child's face or hair, like hats or hands. Ideally, the photo is at ´eye level´
    • No Dark Photos: The best photos are taken in well lit indirect light. This means no harsh sunlight or flash from the camera. The best light is during the day, either outside in light shade or indoors in a well lit room. Harsh sunlight on photos can cause issues
    • Ideally, One Person Per Photo: If you have a photo with just that person in it, that is definitely preferred. If you have a photo with someone of another gender or age group and it is TOTALLY obvious which person we should use, you can have more than one person in your photo. Artist will look at your order and use the person that seems to fit the order the best.
    • Copyright Free: The photo cannot be copyrighted by anyone other than you
    • Head Shot: It is best to use a head shot, but a body shot is fine as long as the person is still prominent in the photo


  2. Which photo formats can I use?
    We accept .jpg, .png and .bmp file formats

  3. Will you tell me if there is a problem with my photo?
    Absolutely. If there is a problem with your photo, we will e-mail you to give you the opportunity to provide us a new photo.

  4. How do I upload a photo?
    You can do it! Follow these instructions for help on how to upload a photo

  5. Do you remove the background from my photo?
    Yes, we remove all of the background from the photo, everything but the person's head.

  6. What if I don't have a digital photo?
    We accept non-digital photos. Please fill out this form and mail it along with your photo. We will make every effort to get your photo back to you in perfect condition, but we do not take any responsibility for any damage or misdirection of your photo while in our possession. Please do not send us a photo that is not replaceable.

  7. What do you do with my photo after my order is placed?
    We keep your photo on our servers just in case you would like to order more books, new titles, or other products like cards, journals, wall art with the same photo. If you would like to remove your photo from our database, please e-mail us at support@flattenme.com

  1. What forms of payment can I use?
    flattenme accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal.

  2. Where do you ship?
    We ship to over 200+ countries. If you live on earth, chances are that we can ship to you. See our shipping page for details on shipping times and options.

  3. How long will it take for my order to arrive?
    Approximately 10-14 business days to arrive at your door, depending on the shipping method you choose. Our Express option will get your order at your door in approximately 7-10 business days. Please keep in mind that flattenme is not responsible for shipping delays once your order leaves our production facility. Visit our shipping page for additional information

Tracking Your Order

  1. Where's my stuff?
    You can check the status of your order at any time by visiting the My Account page. Once your package ships we will send you an e-mail with a link to track your order.
